American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a Nephrology unit position requiring at least 1 year of gen-med experience and an active IL RN license.
Details- Acute care Nephrology unit with 21 private/semi-private beds (one semi-private room with 2 patients) and overhead lift equipment in all rooms
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
- Cares for ESRD, AKI, hemo- and peritoneal dialysis patients, parathyroidectomy, ileal conduit, TURP, prostatectomy, kidney stone, graft/fistula repair, and kidney/pancreas transplant patients, plus gen-med overflow
- Bedside report and 1-2 hour rounding required
- EPIC EMR used
- 12-hour night shifts, 3-12s (7p-7:30a)
- Self-scheduling available with willingness to accommodate block scheduling
- Weekend requirement every other weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun for nights)
- Holiday requirement every other holiday, negotiable
- No call or standby requirements
- May float to other gen-med units, or infrequently as a sitter or help-all to ED/ICU
- Charge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7
- PCT support available on all shifts for vitals, baths, accu-cheks, and foley removal
- No requirement to titrate drips or manage vents; RT support available for respiratory treatments
- Telemetry monitored remotely by TeleTechs, no strip interpretation required by RN
- Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- BSN not required
- Gen-med background required; nephrology or urology experience preferred
- Must pass a negative drug screen for all panels
- Provide direct patient care for nephrology, urology, and post-transplant surgical patients
- 3-day unit-specific orientation with a preceptor
- Any color scrubs permitted; no artificial or gel nails, chipped polish, visible tattoos, or piercings; only simple stud earrings allowed for females
- Local candidates accepted with reduced rates applying to those within 50 miles of the facility
- No radius restriction on eligibility
