Position Summary

Vista Healthcare Rheumatology is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate rheumatologist to join our collaborative specialty-care team in either our Cedar City clinic or our Vineyard Utah County clinic. The ideal candidate is board-certified or board-eligible in Rheumatology and committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centered care.

The physician will evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with inflammatory arthritis, autoimmune disease, osteoporosis, and other rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions. The role includes developing individualized treatment plans, managing disease-modifying and biologic therapies, monitoring treatment response and medication safety, and coordinating care with primary care specialists and other specialists. Opportunities are available at our Cedar City and Vineyard, Utah, clinics.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with rheumatic, autoimmune, and musculoskeletal diseases.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history review, physical examination, laboratory interpretation, and diagnostic imaging review.
• Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
• Prescribe and manage conventional disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs, biologic therapies, immunosuppressive medications, and other appropriate treatments.
• Monitor disease activity, medication effectiveness, and potential adverse effects.
• Perform joint aspirations and therapeutic injections when clinically appropriate if desired.
• Evaluate and manage osteoporosis and other metabolic bone-health conditions.
• Manage and monitor infusion therapies provided through our on-site infusion clinic.
• Educate patients about their diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and long-term disease management.
• Collaborate with primary care, dermatology, nephrology, pulmonology, orthopedics, pain medicine, physical therapy, and other specialties as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
• Participate in quality-improvement activities, peer review, and patient-outcome monitoring.
• Work in a team-based environment designed to improve access, continuity of care, and clinical efficiency.
• Provide clinical leadership, collaboration, and oversight to assigned Advanced Practice Providers and clinical staff, as applicable.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency.
• Completion of an accredited Rheumatology fellowship.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Rheumatology.
• Active, unrestricted Utah medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
• DEA registration or eligibility to obtain registration.
• Strong clinical judgment and commitment to evidence-based medicine.
• Excellent communication and patient-education skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in an outpatient rheumatology practice.
• Experience managing complex autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
• Experience prescribing and monitoring biologic and infusion therapies.
• Proficiency in joint aspiration and injection procedures.
• Experience working collaboratively with Advanced Practice Providers.
• Familiarity with value-based care, quality measures, and patient-outcome monitoring.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong understanding of rheumatic, autoimmune, inflammatory, and metabolic bone diseases.
• Knowledge of conventional and biologic disease-modifying therapies.
• Ability to interpret autoimmune serologies, laboratory findings, diagnostic imaging, and bone-density studies.
• Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making ability.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to explain complex diagnoses and treatment options clearly.
• A compassionate, patient-centered approach to individuals managing chronic illness.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary clinical environment.
• Commitment to medication safety, appropriate monitoring, and evidence-based care.

Physical and Work Environment

• Primarily outpatient clinic setting with support from clinical staff and Advanced Practice Providers, as applicable.
• Ability to perform routine office-based procedures, including joint aspirations and injections.
• Typical schedule is Monday through Friday.
• Position may be based in Cedar City or Vineyard, Utah, depending on candidate preference.
